Exhibition Opening - Flashes of Brilliance

PhotoVoice Australia is delighted to announce that we have a new exhibition. In 2012 seven community photographers from Toowoomba Clubhouse participated in an eight week project. The photographs and accompanying stories which are the result of their work are very moving and insightful.

Toowoomba Clubhouse is a dedicated community working towards the recovery of adults with mental illness. www.toowoombaclubhouse.org.au/ 

The exhibition will be opened by Sandy Pottinger at the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery on Saturday 13 July. We hope to have lots of people there to celebrate the work of Cari, Brendan, Naomi, Anita, Nora, Lisa and Christian. Others who contributed to the project were social work student Kate Nelle, Clubhouse staff Tash Parkin and Lynette Pirie, writer Bryce Alcock and photographer and project facilitator Ann Alcock. We are grateful to  Lucy Robertson-Cuninghame for Graphic Design for the project.

Bay Islands PhotoVoice

On Monday 9 January we will be starting a new PhotoVoice project on Macleay and Russell Islands in Moreton Bay in conjunction with NAPCAN and with funding from 'Yes' OPTUS Connecting Communities Grant.  This is very exciting and there is much interest on the islands with 13 children and young people signing up. This level of participation has meant that we now need to break into 2 groups. We are looking forward to lots of great photos!

We will hold 7 sessions over a 10 day period and have wonderful support from local organisations and particularly Bay Islands Community Services who are providing transport and morning and afternoon teas.
